Automatic installation (recommended)
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for "UTM Manager".
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
Manual installation
- Download the plugin ZIP from WordPress.org.
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the downloaded ZIP and click Install Now.
- Activate the plugin.
FTP installation
- Download and extract the plugin ZIP file.
- Upload the
utm-managerfolder to/wp-content/plugins/on your server. - Go to Plugins in wp-admin and activate UTM Manager.
What happens on activation
- Two database tables are created (
{prefix}utmm_leadsand{prefix}utmm_visits) to store leads and visits. - All six standard UTM parameters are enabled by default — you can turn individual ones off under UTM Manager → Settings.
- If you’re upgrading from a 1.x version, a background migration of your existing leads starts automatically. See Migrating from Version 1.x.
Verifying the installation
- Open your site in a private/incognito browser window with a test UTM URL:
https://your-site.com/?utm_source=test&utm_medium=docs&utm_campaign=install-check - In wp-admin, go to UTM Manager → Leads.
- Your test visit should appear as a new lead within a few seconds, with
testas its source.
If no lead appears, see Troubleshooting.
Installing the Pro add-on
UTM Manager Pro is a separate plugin that runs alongside the free one — don’t deactivate UTM Manager when you install it. Upload the Pro ZIP from your account under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, activate it, then activate your license from the plugin’s row on the Plugins screen. Full steps: License Activation.
Uninstalling
Deactivating the plugin stops tracking but keeps all data.
Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes everything: the custom tables, all plugin options, and any legacy lead posts from version 1.x. This is permanent — export your leads to CSV first if you want a backup.
