Export your leads for analysis in a spreadsheet, a BI tool, or as a backup. Open UTM Manager → Tools.
Running an export
- Pick a date range (optional). Filters by each lead’s last seen date. Leave both fields empty to export everything.
- Select the fields to include. This is a multi-select list with every field selected by default — hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking to change the selection. The available fields are:
- Visitor ID
- User ID
- UTM ID / Source / Medium / Campaign / Term / Content (last-touch values)
- Visits (total page views)
- Last Seen
- Click Export. The file builds in batches and downloads automatically when finished.
With UTM Manager Pro active, more entries appear in the same field list: one per custom parameter you’ve defined (listed under the label you gave it), plus Country, Device, Browser, Operating System, and Revenue — the lifetime WooCommerce order total attributed to that lead. Pro extends this tool rather than adding a second exporter, so everything below applies to those columns too.
How the batching works
Large exports are processed 30 leads at a time via background AJAX requests, so the export never hits PHP timeout limits — tens of thousands of leads export reliably. A progress state is shown while it runs; keep the tab open until the download starts.
The temporary file is created in your uploads directory and deleted from the server immediately after download.
Spreadsheet safety
Values that start with =, +, -, or @ are automatically prefixed with an apostrophe in the CSV. This prevents formula injection — a malicious visitor crafting a UTM value that would otherwise execute as a live formula when you open the export in Excel or Google Sheets. The apostrophe is invisible in most spreadsheet apps; strip the leading ' if you’re post-processing the file programmatically.
Notes and limits
- Exports contain lead-level data (one row per visitor with last-touch attribution). Per-visit journey data is visible on the lead detail view but is not part of the CSV export.
- The exported UTM columns are the last-touch values.
- The CSV’s header row uses the internal field IDs (
visitor,email,utm_source,date, …) rather than the labels shown in the picker — handy for scripted imports, worth renaming if you’re handing the file to someone else. - Dates are exported in your site’s timezone as
YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS. - Only administrators (users with
manage_options) can export.
Troubleshooting exports
- "Error: Please select at least one field to export." — the field list ended up empty; select at least one entry before exporting.
- Download contains no rows — no leads match the date range; widen it or clear the dates.
- Export stalls — check the browser console for failed
admin-ajax.phprequests; a security plugin throttling AJAX is the usual culprit.
