Essential Elements Pro.

The Lightweight Toolkit of Must-Have Site Features for WordPress

Scroll to top, a reading progress bar, reading time and a branded scroll bar, plus an announcement bar, click-to-chat buttons and content protection in Pro. They all live in one plugin and you switch each one on or off from one screen. A module you leave off loads nothing, and a module you switch on adds a few kilobytes of CSS and plain JavaScript. No jQuery, no external requests, no tracking.

PRO FEATURES

The modules that turn visitors into customers

The free plugin covers reading and navigation. Essential Elements Pro adds three modules for marketing, engagement and security. They show up on the same Essentials → Modules screen and use the same settings pages.

Announcement Bar

A top or bottom notice bar with your message, links and a call to action button, sticky or scrolling with the page.

Scheduling & countdown

Set start and end dates in your site timezone and show a live countdown to the end of your sale or launch.

Dismiss memory

Visitors can close the bar, and it stays hidden for as many days as you choose.

Click to Chat

Floating WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, phone, SMS and email buttons. One channel opens straight away, and several open a tidy menu.

Pre-filled WhatsApp message

Start every WhatsApp chat with your own opening line, so you know which page the visitor came from.

Business hours

Show the chat button only on the days and hours you’re available, in your site timezone.

Content Protection

Disable right-click, text selection, copy and cut, and image dragging, and optionally block the view source, save and print shortcuts.

Copy attribution

When copying is allowed, a “Read more at” link back to your page is added to the copied text.

Page targeting

Show any Pro module on the entire site, the front page only or selected post types, and exclude specific pages by ID.

Device visibility

Show the Announcement Bar or Click to Chat on desktop and mobile, desktop only or mobile only.

Cache-friendly

End dates, countdowns, dismissals and business hours are checked in the visitor’s browser, so cached pages stay correct.

Licensing & auto-updates

Activate your key from the Plugins screen and get Pro updates like any other plugin. Lifetime plans get every future update, forever.

PLUGIN FEATURES

Four polished modules, free

The free Essential Elements plugin covers the small features most sites end up needing, so you don’t install (and update, and debug) a separate plugin for each one.

Scroll to Top button — bottom left or right with adjustable offsets, four icon presets, three shapes, custom size and colors, a “show after” scroll distance and an option to hide it on mobile.

Accessible by default — Scroll to Top is a real keyboard-focusable button with a screen-reader label, and it respects the visitor’s “reduce motion” setting.

Reading Progress Bar — a top or bottom bar showing how far visitors have read, with custom thickness, color, an optional gradient and a percentage label.

Admin-bar aware — a top progress bar sits below the WordPress admin bar when you’re logged in, so it never hides.

Reading Time — “1,240 words, 7 minutes read time” added before or after your content, in a long or short (“7 min read”) format.

Reading Time everywhere — on single posts, in blog, archive and search listings, with the [esse_reading_time] shortcode, or with the Reading Time block (including inside a Query Loop).

Accurate in every language — word counting works with Bengali, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and every other script.

Custom Scroll Bar — match the browser scroll bar to your brand, with track, thumb and hover colors, width, thumb radius, four presets and a live preview.

One module dashboard — switch modules on and off instantly from Essentials → Modules, and filter them by category.

Import & export — move every enabled module and all its settings to another site in one JSON file.

Clean uninstall — keep your settings by default, or remove everything on uninstall with one option.

Developer friendly — register your own modules, add settings fields, filter any module’s markup, and hook into import and export.

Works with block and classic themes, needs WordPress 6.3+ and PHP 7.4+, and is tested up to WordPress 7.1.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do you have a question about Essential Elements? See the list below for our most frequently asked questions. If your question is not listed here, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Will this slow down my website?

No. A module that’s switched off loads no files at all. Enabled modules load small CSS files and plain JavaScript with no jQuery, and Reading Time only loads its styles on the post types where it’s shown.

Can I use only the features I need?

Yes. Every feature is a separate module that you switch on or off from Essentials → Modules. All modules start switched off, so nothing appears on your site until you choose it.

Does it work with my theme and page builder?

Yes. It works with block themes and classic themes, and all output is added through standard WordPress hooks. The Reading Time block works in the block editor and the Site Editor (including Query Loops), and the [esse_reading_time] shortcode works anywhere shortcodes do.

Does the plugin collect any data?

No. Essential Elements doesn’t track visitors, set cookies or contact external services. In Pro, the Announcement Bar remembers a dismissal in the visitor’s own browser storage, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Do the Pro modules work with page caching?

Yes. The Announcement Bar end date, countdown and dismissals, and Click to Chat business hours, are all checked in the visitor’s browser, so cached pages stay correct. The one exception is a future start date: clear your page cache when the bar is due to start.

Can I copy my setup to another site?

Yes. Use Export Settings under Essentials → Settings on one site and Import Settings on the other. With Pro active, Pro module settings come along too.

Do I need the free plugin to run Pro?

Yes. Essential Elements Pro adds modules to the free Essential Elements plugin (version 1.3.0 or later), so install and activate both.

Do the Pro modules stop working if my license expires?

No. The modules keep working. An active license gives you automatic updates and support.
