Send Emails → Contacts is your subscriber database. Every person you email lives here as a contact, stored in the plugin’s own fast, indexed tables — there is no limit on how many contacts you can have, and the list stays quick well past 100,000 entries.
The contacts list
The list shows your contacts with instant search, sorting, filtering, and pagination:
- Search by name or email as you type.
- Filter by subscription status (subscribed, unsubscribed, pending, bounced).
- Sort by any column.
- Bulk actions — select multiple contacts to delete them in one go.
Adding and editing a contact
Click Add Contact (or an existing contact) to open the contact form in a slide-in panel. Fields:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Required and unique — the plugin enforces one contact per address, so duplicates are impossible. | |
| First name / Last name | Used by merge tags like {{first_name}}. |
| Phone, Company, Job title, Website | Optional profile details. |
| Country | Select from the standard country list. |
| Date of birth | Powers the birthday automation trigger in Pro. |
| Status | The subscription status — see below. |
| Tags | Type to assign existing tags or create new ones on the fly. See Tags. |
With Send Emails Pro, your own custom fields appear on this form too.
Subscription statuses
The status controls who receives your campaigns. Campaigns and automations only ever email subscribed contacts — the other statuses exist to keep everyone else safely out of your sends.
- Subscribed — actively opted in; receives campaigns.
- Pending — captured but not confirmed (used by Pro’s double opt-in); not emailed by campaigns.
- Unsubscribed — opted out via the unsubscribe link or manually; never emailed by campaigns.
- Bounced — the address rejected delivery; excluded to protect your sender reputation. Set manually, or automatically by Pro’s bounce handling.
Status changes fire automation triggers (for example, contact subscribed), so a status flip can start a welcome sequence. See Automations.
Where contacts come from — the source field
Every contact records how it entered your list: added manually, imported from CSV, captured by a specific form integration (for example form:cf7), or synced from WooCommerce/EDD. The source is set automatically — use it to judge which channels actually grow your list.
Deleting contacts
Deleting a contact removes it and its tag assignments. Select one or many and delete from the list; this cannot be undone, so export a CSV first if you might want the data back.
