Is Thumbnail Image Generator free?

Yes. It is free on WordPress.org and you can use it on as many sites as you like.

When is the featured image created?

When you save a post (or a page, if enabled) that has a title but no featured image. Posts that already have a featured image are never changed.

Does it work for existing posts?

It runs when a post is saved. To add an image to an older post, open it and click Update.

Can I use my own colors and graphics?

Yes. Add any number of background colors and transparent PNG overlay images. A random color and overlay are used for each thumbnail.

Does it need an AI service or API key?

No. Images are created on your own server and saved as PNG files in your Media Library.

Does it work with pages?

Yes. Post thumbnails are on by default, and you can turn on page thumbnails in Thumbnail Image → Settings.
